Hitler love letter auctioned but paintings do not sell

A love letter from Hitler to his niece has sold for £2,800 at an auction in Shropshire. But five paintings by the Nazi leader expected to fetch over £24,000 failed to find a buyer at the Mullock’s sale at Ludlow Racecourse on Tuesday. Documents bearing signatures of Hitler’s deputy, Rudolf Hess, and right-hand man, Hermann Goering, also went under the hammer.

Austrians say life was not bad under Hitler

Forty two per cent of respondents to a survey commissioned ahead of Tuesday’s 75th anniversary of the Anschluss — the Nazi-led union of Germany with Austria — said that life under Hitler was “not all bad”.

Adolf Lu Hitler, a 54-year-old father-of-three, was one of 343 candidates on the ballot paper in last Saturday’s assembly elections in the tiny north-east Indian state of Meghalaya.

Schwarzenegger wants Turkish Hitler poster terminated

Arnold Schwarzenegger has labelled an exhibit in a Turkish shopping centre that links his name with that of Adolf Hitler "repugnant".

The actor and former governor of California expressed outrage after being alerted to the poster at the Sapphire Mall in Istanbul, Turkey, which asks shoppers "Who would you like to meet?".

Jewish survivor writes memoir on being Hitler’s neighbour

A Second World War survivor has written a memoir about his notorious former neighbour – Adolf Hitler.

Munich-born Edgar Feuchtwanger, who has co-written “My Neighbour Hitler: memories of a Jewish child” with French journalist Bertil Scali, recalls his childhood under Nazi rule – from meeting the dictator face-to-face to experiencing antisemitic persecution.

Respect activist: was Hitler the bad guy?

MP George Galloway has emphasised that his Respect Party “abhors and campaigns against racism” after being alerted to comments by a party officer questioning whether Adolf Hitler was “the bad guy”.

Naz Kahn, who last week was being praised on Facebook for her selection as a new woman’s officer for Respect, made the comments on the same site on September 30.

As a child, I lived across the road from Adolf Hitler. I was born in Munich in 1924, my family a well-known Jewish clan. My uncle, Lion Feuchtwanger, was the author of Jew Süss, a bestseller published in 1925. In 1930, he published Erfolg, a view of Munich when the Nazis first made their appearance.
