Community 'father-figure' in court over sexual abuse charges

A father-of-ten hid behind a "respectable surface" as a pillar of the Jewish community to sexually abuse two underage girls, a court heard this week.

Todros Grynhaus, 48, a teacher at Jewish schools, assaulted the girls then relied on the community's "resentment" of anybody who goes to the police to evade punishment, it was alleged.

Prize for Chabad abuse exposé

The JC's Australian correspondent has won a prestigious journalism prize for a documentary on child sexual abuse inside the Chabad headquarters in Melbourne.

Dan Goldberg produced Code of Silence, which last week won the Walkley Award for Best Documentary in 2014.

Child sex predator who left a trail of heartache

He moved into her home in Stanmore and they had a traditional Jewish wedding in East London.

Former Carmel College teacher accused of sexual abuse

A former teacher at Carmel College has been charged with sexual abuse while working at the now closed public school.

Trevor Bolton, 77, of Clacton-on-Sea, Essex, was arrested in June last year on suspicion of four counts of indecency with a child and five counts of indecent assault on a male.

He was charged last Thursday and released on bail to appear at Oxford Crown Court next week.

Police action on alleged Janner sex abuse is 'not imminent'

A decision over whether to prosecute Lord Janner over allegations of historic child sex abuse is no closer this week, despite new revelations about the investigation.

Action against the 85-year-old peer is "not imminent", according to police.

A file was sent by officers to the Crown Prosecution Service in April for consideration. A property owned by Lord Janner was searched in December.

Manchester United owner Malcolm Glazer died on Wednesday aged 85.

The American Jewish billionaire, born in Rochester, New York, suffered ill health following two strokes in 2006.

He was said to have been experiencing impaired speech and limited mobility.
