United Synagogue chief executive Jeremy Jacobs, attending his final council meeting on Monday, would have been pleased with his parting gift: a decanter, a set of glasses and a bottle of malt. He is the ideal man to advise your kiddush club, as a member of the Scotch Malt Whisky Society. He also received what has now become a ritual present to outgoing officials from the US burial society — an inscribed shovel and a pair of wellington boots.
