Begin and Meridor fail in Likud primaries
The results of the Likud primary elections demonstrate a clear lean to the right ahead of Israel’s elections in January.
More moderate ministers Benny Begin and Dan Meridor did not make the list, whilst extreme right-wing politician Moshe Feiglin was placed in a solid middle spot.
Education minister Gideon Sa'ar received the most votes whilst Gilad Erdan, Silvan Shalom, Yisrael Katz, Danny Danon, Reuven Rivlin, Moshe Ya'alon, Zeev Elkin, and Tzipi Hotovely were all in the top ten.
Following the announcement on Monday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said: "We have a strong national team; an experienced and talented team; a team that represents the entire nation. Today we proved again that the Likud is the people's party."
