University College London’s Jewish Society has won the highest award offered by the university’s students’ union.

The JSoc was named Society of the Year at a ceremony on Monday night. President Adam Taylor said it was an “honour”.

The award is granted by UCL Union in recognition of a society’s “exceptional contribution to campus life through bringing in outstanding speakers, creating a sense of community on campus and holding a wide variety of social and educational events”.

Mr Taylor said: “The award is testament to the dedication and passion shown not just by the committee, but by all involved in the society in every way. It reflects the significant progress made by the society in recent years.

“While this marks, probably, the final achievement for this year's committee, we hope that the society's successes will continue long into the future."
