Business leaders offer internships
Businessman and philanthropist Sir Trevor Chinn was guest speaker at a career networking event run by the Union of Jewish Students, University Jewish Chaplaincy and TrainE-TraidE.
The evening, held in central London, was attended by more than 150 students looking for jobs and internships. They were given the opportunity to meet around 50 professionals from a range of industries.
A number of internships were secured and at least one candidate was offered a job on the spot.
Sir Trevor told students that although times are tough, the economy will recover and jobs will become available. He encouraged candidates to find a job and begin working, even if their ideal position was not available.
He said: "Many students will not find employment when they leave university so you need to be smarter and more determined than every other candidate in order to secure a job.
"Never forget to continue developing yourself as an employee and as a Jew."
