Daryl Phillips moved Faithfold to within a point of leaders Hendon with the only goal in a hard-fought win over FC Team.

Stalwart Phillips clinched Faithfold's ninth league win of the season and they remain firm favourites to win the championship with games in hand on the teams above them.

Faithfold boss Zuriel Solomon told JC Sport: "It was more of game how many chances we could miss. We created numerous chances and squandered lots of final balls in the final third.

"To me this was one of our toughest games. Mitch has always had the better of us, but today we showed a great quality. We were extremely hard to play against and our work-rate was great.

They rallied at the end and created a good chance which Ben Law made a diving right-handed save.

"We can now look forward to next week and start getting focused."

FC Team boss Mitch Young told JC Sport: "Faithfold deserved the win - they created a number of chances but their finishing was tremendously poor. We kept the score at 1-0 and created at least three clear-cut easy chances ourselves which we should have taken to nick a draw.

"We were missing serveral key players and had our big no. 9 been playing I am confident it would have been a different game.

"Our second half performance showed once again we can compete wiht anyone and we look forward to our remaining three games. Faithfold have some of the best players in Jewish football and the boys enjoyed the test today."

DC Prediction: Faithfold 3 FC Team 1
