Defences came out on top as Division Two leaders Camden were held by promotion rivals Glenthorne A at the Hive.

A top of the table clash between leaders Camden A and Glenthorne A littered with chances finished in a stalemate.

Glenthorne A, who were led by stand-in boss John Lessem in the absence of Dan Lipman, hit the bar on several occasions, including a collectors' item after a spectacular long-range effort from goal-shy grafter Josh Hambling. A goalline scramble also saw Jamie Crawford see his close range effort on the stretch go over.

Although Glenthorne defenders Joe Grant and Adam Kantor defended sternly, Camden managed to peppere several efforts at thornes keeper Bradley Grant's goal.

Camden will be cursing after having a late winner denied by Grant with an outstanding reflex fingertip save when Camden's nimble striker had seemingly broken clear in the box. His low placed effort across goal into the bottom left-hand corner seemed destined for the goal before Grant at full stretch with fingertips diverted the effort onto the post and out for a corner. From the resulting corner Camden had a back post headed effort denied by post.

At the full time whistle both sides will ultimately feel glad to have avoided defeat after taking part in a game that was well contested by two sides with promotion high on their agendas.

Glenthorne manager-for-the-day John Lessem told JC Sport: "It was a very good game. Camden are a very good side and they provided a tough test.

"Both sides show great determination and skill. Camden has more possession but we showed great resilience and commitment and our defence was unbelievable. David Levy, Adam Kantor, Joe Grant and Gary Tiller were phenomenal, while Bradley Grant made some amazing saves.

Josh Hambling and Ashley Stanton both hit the crossbar and Jamie Crawford was very unlucky not to score.

"It was a well fought for point and all the boys should be proud of their performance. Now we have three more cup finals left to ensure promotion."
