An 86th minute winner earned Chigwell their first win of the season following a hard-fought contest against Fortune at the Hive.
Chigwell forged ahead after 15 minutes when a crossfield pass from player-manager Richard Slater found Jamie Fox who finished coolly.
Fortune levelled with a calm poked finish past Marc Jacobs, but Chigwell had the last laugh when a late corner from Slater found its way into the net, with a parry from the keeper.
Chigwell boss Richard Slater told JC Sport: "We started the game well and had a perfectly good goal ruled out, which would have seen us 2-0 up after 30 minutes.
"It was not a great second half from us, we just didn't get our game together, but it's three points, and sometimes you need to grind out these scrappy away wins."
Fortune boss Lee Fegan said: "After the euphoria of last week's win, this was a bit of a reality check. I realise that players are still getting to know each other but all the same I'm disappointed we didn't get something out of the game.
"I don't think Chigwell deserved to win and a draw would have been a fairer result."
Chigwell: Mark Jacobs Pierce Prince (sub: Russell Yershon 65), Paul Lenchner, Lee Hyams, Richard Slater, Russell Brill, Craig Pearl, Daniel Castle, Richard Baum (sub: Jonatham Swead 87), Anthony Mendel (sub: Dean Ben Yosef 60), Jamie Fox
