a hat-trick from man-of-the-moment JAMES GOLD saw Lions B inflict a big blow on Glenthorne A's promotion hopes at Rowley Lane.
Jonny Cutter completed the rout for Jamie Kyte's men.
Lions boss Jamie Kyte told JC Sport: "Today was a pleasant reminder of how well we play when we play as a team.
"Last week we got a convincing win against Norstar but never really got going, this week was the complete opposite.
"There was nothing really in it in the first half and although our one goal lead from Cutter was deserved, we didn't have many other clear-cut chances.
"Credit to their keeper who pulled off a fantastic point blank save tipping the ball over the bar from a shot no more than five yards out.
"The second half was a completely different story. I don't know what was said to James Gold at half time, but he came out a man possessed. He must have got his hat-trick in 20 minutes and when he gets going he doesn’t stop.
"It’s going to be hard keeping hold of him in the summer, but hopefully if we keep his brother Rich at the club we may be able to keep him here.
"To be fair, the scoreline was slightly flattering to us and after our second goal their heads dropped.
"The only negative point of the game was a little scuffle that broke out between a couple of players from both teams with 10 minutes to go. I or the ref didn’t see any of it, but from what I’ve heard both teams were lucky not to have players sent off.
"Today I can’t praise our back four enough. With Cameron Most, filling in in the absence of Henry Ziff and Max Astaire, he brought calmness to the defence and that was reflected on all the boys.
"Ryan Springer had one of the best games I’ve seen him play and was fantastic. Likewise, both Matt Green and Alex Springer did a superb job on their respective sides and gave us so much going forward.
"Maybe the reason we seemed so solid was because of the re-signing of an old Lions favourite in David Kosky. The kid’s a talent in-between the sticks and gets us playing from the back."
