Hendon returned to winning ways and completed the double over Boca with a battling 2-1 victory, thanks to a brace from Eli Stone.

Boca had the better of the opening stages but were foiled by a stubborn home defence and a goalkeeper in Yaacov Goldin, who was keen to put one over his old club.

With their first real attack of the game, Hendon earned a penalty when Jono Nesbitt was clumsily fouled in the box. Ben David's penalty was well saved by the Boca keeper, but Stone was on hand to slot home the rebound for his first goal for Hendon. That quickly became two, as a corner found its way through to Stone, and like a true fox in the box he swept the ball home from close range.

Early in the second half, Boca were handed a lifeline when they were awarded one of the softest penalties you could care to see, converted by Yehoshua Silverman.

After that, Hendon had to ride some pressure but their strong backline was not to be breached. With a few minutes left, Stone fluffed a golden opportunity to seal a dream hat-trick when he was set up by Nesbitt, but Hendon held on for the win.

Hendon boss Adam Glekin told JC Sport: "It wasn't vintage stuff, but I was pleased to get the win. We didn't start the game well, and we probably didn't deserve to go 2-0 up but once we did, we were very comfortable until they were gifted a penalty. But we dug in and showed some really good spirit in the last 20."
