Whetstone's promotion hopes were rocked as they lost a seven-goal thriller against inconsistent Loughton, whose goals came through Dave Levy, Adam
Conway, Jamie Crawford and Josh Jacobs.
Orient started the game reasonably well, however found themselves a goal down after 10 minutes after a cool finish from the Whetstone striker.
It wasn't long until Orient were level when a perfectly floated ball into box the by Conway was met at the far post by Levy who slotted home.
Minutes later Orient were awarded a free-kick around 40 yards out. Adam Conway confidently stepped up and the ball flew into the top corner giving the keeper no chance - a contender for goal of the season that Beckham would of been proud of.
After half time Whetstone got themselves back in the game and at 2-2 - it was end to end and anyone's game for the taking.
Orient wanted the three points and were rewarded when Crawford went through on goal and finished calmly to restore Orient's lead.
The next goal came from the penalty spot with Jacobs converting to make it 4-2.
Whetstone pulled a goal back in the last minute, but Orient held on for a well deserved victory.
Loughton manager Dan Curtis told JC Sport: "I was pleased with the boys today. We have had some dodgy results lately, but we got stuck in today and showed our spirit. A great team performance."
