Jewdinese completed comeback of the day, coming from 3-0 down to win a seven-goal thriller against Faithold C.

Ben Berrick (2), Zac Collins and Zac Brin were the goal heroes for the new boys.

Faithfold's goals came through Ben Simons, Dan Gordon and Nick Roman.

Faithfold went in at half-time 2-0 up and after a stern teamtalk from manager Darren Lawrence, he told his Jewdinese boys they had to "step up to the plate and perform".

Things went from bad to worst when Faithfold scored another and went 3-0 up. With 25 minutes to go the home side nicked a goal and everything was positive from then. They scored two more in quick succession and equalised. With around 10 minutes to go, they completed a stunning comeback from a free-kick.

L'Equipe joint-manager Daniel Cordell told JC Sport: "Nothing shows our intent more for the season with both our strikers filling their boots in the opening game of the season.

"Our defence was so solid with another one of our new signings Gavin Rhodes having a stormer at CB with David Prager. Whilst strikers win you games defences win the league and that's still our aim.

"We have laid down a marker to the rest of the teams in the league."

Faithfold boss David Garson told JC Sport: "We ran out of puff and somehow managed to give away a three-goal lead in 10 minutes.

"All credit to our young opposition today who didn't give up when most teams would have crumbled - a welcome addition to the league."
