Fogelman fries Boca
|4 - 3|
A fab four-goal salvo from RICHARD FOGELMAN inspired promotion-chasing L'Equipe to victory in a seven-goal thriller against Boca.
Schnitzelman fired home a first-half hat-trick, including a goal of the season contender, a stunning 25-yard free-kick into the top corner and a sumptuous volley.
With joint-manager Dan Cordell away running the New York Marathon, captain Mark Singer and Richard Mail injured we were missing a few key players.
This game was a game of two halves. Boca didn't look like the team that have lit up the division in recent weeks. JJ Marrache returning for his second stint at L'Equipe started in behind Fogelman and from the first whistle Boca couldn't keep up with them.
With the wind on their side, L'Equipe broke the deadlock about 15 minutes in when Marrache played in Fogelman with a neat pass - who then finished with a brilliant chip from the corner of the box.
10 minutes later Marrache and Fogelman linked up again with another textbook finish from Foge.
Boca hit back through Michael Patterson though L'Equipe felt that the ball had not crossed the line which resulted in some unsavoury scenes, and left L'Equipe co-boss Josh Lewis calling for "goal-line technology!"
Viv Emanuel and Jack Shulman gave the Boca team the Ferguson-esque hair-dryer treatment. They came out second half fighting and were battling for each ball and finally playing at their pace. But they were hit by a sucker punch as L'Equipe restored their two-goal advantage from a well-struck Fogelman free kick.
Boca didn't let their heads drop and they managed to score a great second goal. Moving down the middle, Dovi Vogel headed the ball to Dan Ezra, who controlled it, ran on and neatly put it into the top of the net. Unfortunately in the process falling and hurting himself badly. Emanuel was disappointed with the behaviour of some of the L'Equipe player, but he wanted "to mention one player, Joshua Lewis, came over and checked he was okay. Thanks Josh".
With 60 minutes gone Josh Lewis slid Fogelman through to finish for his fourth goal of the game and regain the two-goal cushion, to cries of 'Feed the Foge and he will score'. Boca didn't let go of the game as we may have done last season and Dovi Fehler set up a grandstand finish after making it 4-3, with his fourth goal in four games. Boca also hit the crossbar twice and came close on numerous occasions but L'Equipe took the points.
L'Equipe co-manager Josh Lewis told JC Sport: "Following our first defeat of the season last week, it was important to get back to winning ways and we did just that.
"I also wanted wish the Boca right winger well as he went down with a bad injury in the last 15."
Commenting on the Dan Ezra injury, Boca's Viv Emanuel added: "Dan will be miss and we wish him all the best."
