A wonder goal from Andy Cohen saw Norstar move to within just a point of securing promotion after a tough 1-0 win against Faithfold at Chase Lodge.
On a very bobbly, slopey pitch, it was always going to be a difficult game and it proved to be so. Norstar struggled to get the ball down and play their free-flowing football and attempts on target were proving difficult for both sides.
Norstar grabbed the only goal of the game just before the break. Playing at right-back, Cohen broke down the right of the pitch. As he cut back onto his left, looking like he was going to cross the ball into the box, he fooled everyone and smashed the ball across the goal and into the far corner of the net, leaving the keeper no chance - a great goal to watch.
Both sides had chances in the second half and Norstar were fortunate not to rue a few missed chances. That being said, a fifth clean sheet of the season for the Oranges and the sort of performance a team at as Faithfold gave an improved showing following the 8-2 bashing at the hands of NLR earlier in the season.
Proud Faithfold boss David Garson told JC Sport: "I think we were very unlucky to lose, as I don't think apart from the goal they had a shot on target. We missed Flash up front and I think if he has been playing we might have won. Good luck to Raiders on their promotion push."
