We have lift-off!

AC Whetstone came of age and finally delivered - just as joint-managers Anthony Cohen and Clive Nathan knew they would. Thumped 4-1 by Catford & Bromley Maccabi on the opening weekend of the season, it was a case of sweet revenge as they ran out 5-1 winners with an excellent performance from start to finish.

A delighted Nathan told JC Sport: "A team made up entirely of 16-year-olds showed a team spirit; will to win and pure footballing ability way beyond their years."

"Since our formation in 2004 our aims have always been the same: to end the season with the boys wanting to play again and to see them improve. We know after 4 games that we are enjoying senior football."

The youngest team in the league has arrived. Who said you win nothing with kids!
