Mayor of London Boris Johnson took part in the ground-breaking ceremony for the £50 million Jewish Comunity Centre for London. The idea for the 35,000 square-foot centre in Hampstead was conceived by Dame Vivien Duffield.
The London Jewish Cultural Centre attracted more than 200 guests to the opening of Art House, an art exhibition aimed at the local and Jewish communities. The JC-sponsored show received 258 works by 106 artists, with paintings being couriered down from Manchester and Newcastle. The exhibition, housed at Ivy House in Golders Green, runs until October 11.

The gathering at the Wallace Collection in central London enjoyed a private tour of the gallery and a lecture by Ze'ev Bielski, Knesset member for Kadima, who spoke about Israel's history and the challenges it faces.
London Mayor Boris Johnson praised the services offered by Jewish Care's £44 million Maurice and Vivienne Wohl Campus in Golders Green when he officially opened it last Friday. Mr Johnson met residents, members, staff and Jewish Care leaders during a tour of the premises. He described the facility as "marvellous.
