A big London crowd raises £2.5k for Norwood projects

More than 500 revellers were attracted to a winter and champagne cocktail party at Kensington Roof Gardens. The evening, which raised £2,500 for Norwood, was organised by Joseph Menahem and Jonny Bluestone. “The night was a great success and everyone had a wonderful time raising money for a good cause,” said Joseph

London diners make £30K for Jewish Blind and Disabled

ChildLine founder Esther Rantzen was the guest speaker at a lunch in aid of Jewish Blind and Disabled. In her address, she spoke to the 200-strong audience about her election campaign and broadcasting career. The event, held at the Hendon Hall Hotel, raised £30,000 for the charity.

A big Sheffield crowd attends gala opening of musical

Around 200 people attended a gala reception for the opening of the musical Ruth at Kingfield Synagogue in Sheffield. The show, written by community members Stephen Swycher and Leslie Cass, was performed over three nights and attended by around 600 people.

International fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg received Jewish Care’s Woman of Distinction award at a lunch held at the Langham in London. She was honoured for her pioneering clothes and for her work as a women’s rights campaigner. The 300 guests raised £100,000 for mental health projects

A Manchester crowd raises £800K for UJIA

Manchester UJIA raised £800,000 at its annual northern region dinner at the Hilton Hotel. The 350-strong audience were addressed by ambassador Dan Gillerman, Israel’s former representative to the UN. At the event the inaugural Lord Steinberg award for services to Israel and the Jewish People was presented to Colonel Richard Kemp who has publicly spoken out against allegations that Israel committed war crimes in Gaza during Operation Cast Lead
