Israeli and Jewish aid organisations headed for Port-au-Prince to deal with the aftermath of the Haiti earthquake which may have killed up to 200,000 people.

Latet, an Israeli human rights organisation is in Haiti, and funds are being raised for their efforts by Bnei Akiva.An IDF delegation has been in the country this week with experts in engineering, medicine and rescue tactics.Magen David Adom’s six-man team have set up a field hospital in the University Hospital World Jewish Relief has also launched an emergency appeal.Magen David Adom has opened a bank account to collect money for helping the victims. The funds will be used for purchasing first aid and medical equipment, blankets, medications, water, food, hygiene kits, water purification pills, tents and nylon sheets. Magen David Adom are working as part of the International Red Cross.The team set up a field hospital to treat those who could not reached the IDF facility.
