South Manchester SC 1st 3
Sporting Manchester 2 (4)
South Manchester relinquished their grasp on the Manchester Handicup after failing to overturn a two-goal deficit against Sporting.
With the visitors, who play in the league below given a two-goal start, South were unable to pull through as they surrendered their crown following an action-packed encounter.
Adam Lavin netted a hat-trick to put South in pole position, but Sporting hit back to level on aggregate with a fine free-kick.
And with just minutes remaining, a goalkeeping error allowed Sporting to grab a second and claim a fortuitous late victory.
South will hope to bounce back next Sunday when they take on Temple Fortune in the Peter Morrison Trophy.
