Samling selects talented young professional singers and pianists to take part in its prestigious Masterclasses led by some of the world’s finest artists. This special performance, demonstrating why there is immense competition to join its Programme, features Samling Scholars soprano Sarah-Jane Brandon, winner of the 2009 Kathleen Ferrier Award and mezzo-soprano Cecelia Hall, set to make her Metropolitan Opera debut in 2010/11. They will be joined by tenor James Geer, baritone Philip Smith and pianist Daniel Wnukowski who this
year inaugurated the Chopin year in Poznan, Poland with Metropolitan Opera soprano Aleksandra Kurzak.
The programme will include Ravel ‘Don Quichotte’, Debussy ‘Chansons de Bilitis’, Liszt ‘Comment, disaient-ils’, ‘Oh! quand je dors’ and ‘Enfant, si j’étais roi’ and songs from Schubert ‘Schwanengesang’, with opera arias and ensembles by Handel, Mozart and Strauss.
