To celebrate the 80th birthday of this Marx Brothers classic,
we are teaming up with the London Comedy Film Festival for
an exclusive screening.
Duck Soup is considered a comic masterpiece, and its plot
is still alarmingly relevant, skewering fascism, nonsensical
government bureaucracy, pompous diplomats and the
absurdity of reckless war. All this is served up with dollops of
vaudeville-style zaniness, hilarious one-liners and wordplay,
and features some of the most lauded physical comedy
scenes in film.
Whether you are a Marx Brothers fan or have never seen
Groucho in action, this will be a great night to celebrate one
of cinema’s most exuberant classics.
Plus Q&A! After the film we are delighted to welcome Simon
Louvish – author of celebrated Marx Brothers’ biography
Monkey Business – in conversation with Jonathan
Wakeham, co-founder of the London Comedy Film Festival.
