28TH OCTOBER – David Grossman’s To the End of the Land
David Grossman’s extraordinary new novel, To the End of the Land, marks a new development for the Israeli novel; a feminist take on the Arab-Israeli conflict, and the true cost of War. In Ora, his protagonist, Grossman has created one of the most memorable female characters in fiction. The novel moves effortlessly between war and peace, the domestic and the military, and uncovers the true cost of the conflict to those on all sides. Paul Auster has called it “Grossman’s Masterpiece – wrenching, beautiful, unforgettable”. Nicole Krauss commented “very few times in a lifetime, you open a book and when you close it again, nothing can ever be the same. To The End of the Land is a book of this magnitude.” David Grossman is one of Israel’s leading writers, creator of fiction, non-fiction, and children’s literature. His work has been translated into 30 languages.
Join writer and lecturer Ariel Kahn, together with celebrated Palestinian novelist Samir El-Youssef, once again for what promises to be a stimulating discussion.
