New York has been a breeding hub for emerging art movements, from Max Weber’s Cubism, to the Abstract Expressionism of Jackson Pollock and Willem de Kooning and the Pop Art movement led by Jasper Johns and Roy Lichtenstein. Today, the city is a global centre for the international art market countered by a constant flux of underground movements, such as Hip-hop art and Graffiti, which shaped artists such as Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat. Does this art reflect the Jewish American experience? Can Jewish thought and ideas be traced in New York art? Following our successful tour of the Royal Academy, join artist Sarah Lightman, now a JCC favourite, this time for a tour of New York City - via Bankside. Explore Tate Modern’s collection and discover the artists that shaped American fine arts. TO BOOK: http://www.jcclondon.org.uk/Arts_Gallery.html
