Cambodia: Reflections of the Khmer Rouge is a photography exhibition about the Cambodian genocide 1975 – 1979. Portraying the brutal conditions of daily life under the Khmer Rouge regime, this exhibition documents events as the Khmer Rouge attempted to ‘cleanse’ Cambodia of all Western influences – emptying cities, abolishing money, shutting schools, forbidding religious practices and claiming everything for the state. The exhibition ties-in with the ongoing United Nations war crimes tribunal, which brings Cambodians one step closer to the justice they have sought for over thirty years. At a time of remembrance over Holocaust Memorial Day it is important that we remember victims of other genocides around the world in order that the dictate ‘Never Again’ may one day become a reality.
