Greater Manchester Amateur Cricket League Division Three Supplementary Cup Final
Manchester Cricket Club 297-7 off 40 overs
Jeffries 105, A.Lieberman 90
Trinity 72-9 chasing 149 off 20
Manchester Cricket Club began the new season in style by crushing Trinity to win the Division Three Supplementary Cup.
The new club, which was created following a merger between South Manchester and Manchester Maccabi, recorded a 77-run victory to claim its first piece of silverware.
After being put in to bat, Simon Jeffries produced an astonishing innings of 105 off 102 deliveries, while Akiva Lieberman hit a rapid 90 to help Manchester finish on 297-7 from their 40 overs.
Trinity’s reply was halted early on by rain and the bad weather looked to have put pay to Manchester’s hopes of success.
But once the downpour had relented, Trinity were given a revised target of 149 from 20 overs as they looked to take control of the contest.
The overhead conditions looked to have given the Manchester bowlers a bit of help and Josh Oehley struck to take 2-30, Huddy Lieberman 1-22 and Shaya Rabinowitz 2-9.
An impressive bowling display ensured Trinity limped to 72-9 and wrapped up the first trophy for the fledgling club.
