Archway based Natalie Besbrode is a freelance radio presenter who also works in public relations. The 32-year-old has volunteered for WJR for 20 months.

Why WJR?
I was keen to explore whether I could transfer my PR and presenting skills to charitable work. When I learnt about how I could be involved in WJR it instantly appealed. Not only is it a link to my ancestors, but I can get involved in areas where I think I can make a difference.

What does your volunteering involve?
Working on the WJR Gifts in Kind project involves sourcing goods which are sent to Eastern Europe. I research companies and contact them to see if they have redundant stock. I also give talks at schools and cheders about WJR.

What do you most enjoy about being a volunteer?
The fact that I am benefitting others.

What is your most memorable volunteering moment?
One of my tasks was to source Incontinence pads, which I had been told were like gold dust. I found a company willing to help and then several weeks later I received an e-mail from WJR saying that it had been provided with 28 crates of pads from the company which was amazing. It made me feel on top of the world.
