● How we met
"I had known him for years - I was even at his 18th birthday party," Danielle recalls. "In the summer of 2007 I was working for Jdate as events manager and I had to have a profile on the site so I could speak to members. One day I received a message from Barrie saying: 'Hi, remember me?' We started emailing and got on really well. Then I received one saying: 'You live in Stanmore, I live in Elstree, shall we meet in the middle for a drink?' I thought it was two old acquaintances meeting up for a catch-up but as I was to later discover, this was Barrie asking me out on our first date. We met at a pub and talked for hours until we were the last people left. Barrie has one of the sexiest voices and I tried to keep him talking so I could hear his voice. It was the easiest first date I had ever had. I went home and couldn't stop thinking about him. The next day I got a text from Barrie saying: 'It was lovely to see you last night. Would you like to go out again?' I said yes and the rest is history."
● The proposal
"Danielle had always wanted to visit Paris, so I booked two Eurostar tickets and a five-star hotel in the heart of the city for New Year's Eve and told nobody," Barrie says. "When Danielle asked what we would do for New Year, I told her I was taking her away in the UK and she was not allowed to know anything. At St Pancras, Danielle assumed that we were getting a train to somewhere in the UK. I walked her to the Eurostar desk at which point she said: 'Very funny we don't even have our passports.' I then pulled both passports out of my pocket. In Paris I had booked a lovely restaurant which was holding a New Year's Eve party. As the countdown to midnight hit three seconds, I told Danielle to grab her wine and as she turned around, I pushed the table away, went down on one knee and asked her to marry me. Danielle said: 'Are you joking? Of course I will.' And then she began to cry. There was applause from everyone in the restaurant."
● The wedding
It will be at the Millennium Gloucester Hotel, Kensington, and the couple are considering honeymoon options including Hong Kong, the Maldives, "or a luxury resort on a Thai island or Malaysia".
