A Leeds support group which provides nationwide services for the visually impaired has celebrated its 40th anniversary. The Leeds Braille Group was founded by Fenella Conway after hearing about a pre-barmitzvah boy who needed Braille transcriptions.
Respondents to her advertising for transcribers learnt how to write Braille and assignments from the NHS, universities and synagogues flooded in. Mrs Conway said: "My Braille girls do a fantastic job."
