A bequest of £1 million has been made to the Yorkshire Cancer Centre in Leeds by the late Doctor Maury Benard, in memory of his late grandson, Jeremy Allen. Dr Benard practised in Armley as a doctor and dentist. He was also a Leeds councillor and retired in 1987. He died in October 2004 aged 87, just a month after his wife Asneth. The £1 million gift will go to the centre in St James’s Hospital, Leeds.
