Children from Kol Chai Hatch End Reform Jewish Community's cheder will spend the morning involved in a number of activities ranging from packaging boxes of gifts for Barnado's to assisting the Harrow Nature Conservation Forum in cleaning up and conserving Stanmore Common.

Meanwhile their parents will be asking shoppers going in to Steve's Deli and Barnets in Stanmore to buy extra groceries to donate on their way out, which will be sent to The New Hope Trust in Watford.

Kol Chai's cheder head teacher, Jacky Martin, explains: "We want to try to enthuse the children and adults in our community to get involved in the physical act of charity, rather than just being armchair givers. This is a way of getting everyone involved and doing something inspiring and genuinely useful, rather than sitting at home moaning about the weather and the economy."
