Green party gets Norwood's vote
Philip Green with sons Joe, Harry, Jacob and Sam at the start
The marathon was a family affair for Norwood supporter Philip Green, who ran the race with his four sons.
A marathon veteran, the St John's Wood-based property developer was prevented by injury from running alongside his sons in the 2010 event.
This year, a family Friday night dinner was part of the build-up for Mr Green and the twentysomethings Joe, Sam, Harry and Jacob.
Their exertions raised £10,000 for Norwood, which the family has long supported because of Mr Green's former chairmanship of the Ravenswood village in Berkshire, which Norwood administers. Mr Green's wife Caroline and family and friends were at the finish line to cheer the quintet home.
Harry came in first, in a time of four hours 19 minutes, with Jacob next in 4:36.
‘Running with my sons has been a long-held dream’
"Joe and Sam kept me company for the first 11 miles or so, which is the reason they were slower," explained Mr Green, who completed the course in a shade over six hours.
"Running with my sons has been a long-held dream. Our aim was to all finish the course in one piece"
