Yavneh 'outstanding', says Ofsted

Anglo-Jewry’s newest secondary school has received the highest marks possible ratings in its first Ofsted inspection.

Yavneh College in Borehamwood was awarded an outstanding grade in almost every area. The inspection team observed that what had been achieved in five terms was “remarkable”.

Overall, they found Yavneh’s “leadership and management outstanding” and “standards of work exceptionally high”. The curriculum and spiritual, moral, social and cultural aspects of the school were also ranked as outstanding.

Inspectors further noted that “visitors are made to feel exceptionally welcome”.

Students demonstrated “an excellent understanding of and show good regard for a healthy lifestyle” through sport and healthy eating.

They were given good opportunities to learn about other faiths and cultures.

Yavneh head Dena Coleman was “thrilled for everyone connected with the school that we have received this excellent report from Ofsted”. Governors’ chair Malcolm Gordon added: “It is remarkable that the school has achieved such high standards in only five terms. This is due to the hard work and dedication Dr Coleman and her staff have shown. They have turned the dream into reality.”
