State-of-the-art facilities worth £150,000 have been added to a Jewish Blind & Disabled home in Redbridge.

Four mobility flats and a computer room have been installed at Aztec House in Ilford, one of six Jewish Blind & Disabled buildings in the capital.

A charity spokesperson explained that “the apartments will be filled by people from our long waiting list.”

Sisters Essie Pearl and Miriam Disdale have just moved into one of the flats. According to Mrs Pearl — who suffers from osteoporosis and experiences problems standing: “The best bit about living in a Jewish Blind & Disabled flat is that we are with other Jewish people.”
