JLGB in a rollercoaster of a deal
High flyers: Lord Levy is in a spin as he takes part in activities at Chessington World of Aventures - part of a new scheme run by JLGB
More than 200 thrill-seekers including Lord Levy enjoyed a day of fun at Chessington World of Adventures on Sunday.
The outing was to launch a new scheme in which Jewish Lads' and Girls' Brigade will be linking up with the company running some of Britain's biggest visitor attractions .
After an awards ceremony at which Lord Levy presented prizes to groups from around the country, including Kingston, Brighton and Glasgow, JLGB members spent the rest of the day enjoying the sun and riding the rollercoasters.
The event was the first joint venture between JLGB and Merlin Entertainments, Europe's largest visitor attraction operator and the company behind sites including Alton Towers, Madame Tussauds and the London Eye.
There are some great places out there but cost is the barrier
The initiative will enable JLGB to take its members, as well as groups from Israel, to top entertainment sites for a fraction of the price.
In time, JLGB will also offer other Jewish groups, from charities to youth organisations, the chance to buy tickets at discounted rates.
JLGB intends to sell the tickets online, and will only charge extra for booking fees on the tickets..
JLGB chief executive Neil Martin said that the deal made sense for them and for the wider community given the current economic climate.
"There are some great places out there but cost is the barrier and this helps to break down that barrier." he said.
"Every year we take groups to places like the London Eye. It makes sense to make it a partnership.
"We are upping the ante on what we are offering young people."
