All hands to the pumps: supporters make a splash at Cosgrove’s fun day

Cosgrove Care, a Scottish charity which helps adults with learning disabilities and their families, held a day of activities to celebrate its 50th anniversary.

The event held at the Walton Community Centre on Sunday attracted around 300 visitors, including MSP Ken Macintosh and MP Jim Murphy. A further 300 people attended Eastwood Park in the evening for an "Abba Fever" concert, raising more than £2,000.

The charity also received a donation of £40,000 from the Walton Foundation. The foundation has pledged a further £15,000 each year starting from 2012.

Fundraiser Nicola Diamond said: "The day was great fun and there was a great party atmosphere in the evening with people of all ages and from outside the Jewish community as well.

"It raised awareness as well as money," she added.
