JNF forced to make more staff redundant

JNF UK expects to have to make further staff cuts as a result of the economic climate.

The charity, which recently closed a number of regional offices, said that further streamlining may lead to "a number of redundancies". The future of JNF's education department is under review. The charity's Edgware headquarters has been put up for sale, although a new location has yet to be found.

David Goodman, acting chief executive, said: "We will be doing our utmost to ensure staff are supported effectively throughout the process. "JNF is facing a challenging year ahead and it is necessary to make changes in order to make us a stronger charity. By planning ahead and reducing our expenditure, we will best protect the support we give to vital projects in Israel."

Samuel Hayek, JNF chairman, adds: "Any decisions taken on the restructure will be difficult because we know it will affect people who have worked so hard for the charity."
