Wheely good Norwood idea
Easy riders: Norwood's bikers out of the saddleduring the challenge which raised £50,000
Participants in Norwood's Israel bike ride included a resident from Ravenswood, the charity's Berkshire community for adults with learning disabilities.
Martin Weiss, 45, cycled in tandem with Joel Mishcon, 33, director of a television production company. Mr Weiss, who has Down's syndrome, said: "I got to visit lots of different countries and meet lots of new people. I love cycling, it is good fun."
Mr Weiss said the ride was "as soul-charging and life-affirming as it can get. We battled the desert heat and tackled many mammoth climbs, but Martin never stopped smiling and was an inspiration to everyone else on the trip."
The event began with a tour of Masada and took riders to the Dead Sea, Petra and Wadi Rum before the finish in Eilat. The cyclists raised £50,000 towards Norwood's work.
