St Anne's rabbi dies after heart attack
St Anne's Synagogue minister Rabbi David Katanka died on Monday, aged 63, two weeks after suffering a heart attack.
Rabbi Katanka also served congregations in Leeds, Sheffield, Portsmouth and Southsea, Edinburgh and Golders Green.
A memorial gathering was held on Tuesday at St Anne's Hebrew Congregation, with further tributes paid at a service at Hendon Synagogue, attended by 250 people, where the speakers included Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis.
Golders Green Synagogue's Peter Zinkin, who was chairman during Rabbi Katanka's time at the shul, said the minister "was a much-loved, faithful servant of the community at Golders Green for many years and extremely fondly remembered by those members of our community who were around in his day".
A family member described him as "a very special man who touched many lives".
