Gatley Yeshurun job in demand

The pulpit vacancy at Manchester’s Yeshurun Hebrew Congregation in Gatley has attracted great interest with the number of applicants in “double digits”.

Yeshurun anticipates a short gap in rabbinic leadership for its 400 member families from November, when Rabbi Chaim Kanterovitz and his wife Bianca leave after 10 years to join one of the major London area United synagogues, Borehamwood and Elstree.

Yeshurun chairman Tony Kaye said interviews with candidates had begun. “We don’t want to have too long a hiatus without a minister. We’ve had a significant number of applicants. We expect to bring shortlisted candidates to the community for a Shabbat and to give a sermon.”
