Harrow Council’s planning committee has unanimously approved an application for the erection of poles and wires on five sites which will complete the boundary for the Bushey eruv. Hertsmere Borough Council had previously given planning consent for the poles and wires in the majority of the eruv area.
However, observant Bushey Jews will have to wait a while before they can reap the benefits, according to Dan Blake, the Bushey Synagogue board member overseeing the project. “Further legal requirements need sorting out, we need to do more fundraising and we also have to have some dialogue with the local wider community before we can even contemplate going out to tender,” he said.
