A good initiative
Last year we exposed the terrible story of babies being buried in unmarked graves, without parents being informed.
So it is heartening to be able to report this week that the United Synagogue is behind an entirely admirable burial scheme, through which people can be buried in Israel. The US arranges both the plot and the transportation of the body.
And it somehow feels appropriate that the first person to be buried in this way was a British soldier who married a Holocaust survivor he helped to liberate from Bergen-Belsen.
