"The Jews in secret Nazi reports on popular opinion in Germany, 1933-45"

David Cesarani reviewed this recently discovered book in the July 9th JC. His final sentence in his review was especially compelling.
The SD (the Nazi Security Service) recorded various reports during the final deportations. Among reports it received were also reports that "...among people who have been bombed out you can hear statements saying that if we had not treated the Jews so badly, we would not have suffered so much from terror attacks".

Try placing the word 'Palestinians' in that sentence instead of the word 'Jews'. I suggest we might one day hear that very statement from Israeli citizens, and even from those of us who maintain that Israel can do no wrong and must never be criticised. Are we intelligent enough to heed such a lesson?

the EUMC working " definition " is sheer garbage.

" Amber " how you are tolerated given your complete lack of substantive input and consistent and persistent abusive behaviour is beyond me.

First why replace the word Palestinian for Jew. Germany was endeavouring to eradicate Jews from the earth are you seriously suggesting that Israel is attempting a genocide of the Palestinians? Jews did not blow up German cafes or buses or fire rockets on German cities killing innocent men women and children or call for the destruction of Germany - your comparison is therefore odious. No Israeli would accept that we are responsible for Arab terrorism or that it is any way justified - the Arabs must bear the blame for it. They know what they must do and what Israel expects if they truly want peace. Secondly even if we accepted your odious comparison for even one moment how would you explain the Arab pogrom against the Jews in Hebron in 1929 and the Arab Riots of 1936-1939 which resulted in the heavy loss of Jewish lives. Anyway it is Shabbat here now - have a peaceful Shabbat!

Hang about. If it's shabbat and you are orthodox, how come you be posting? Petard, hoisted, his and by come to mind. You're about as orthodox as I am.

Alright, amber and Advis3r, I'll simplify my point to make it easier for you to understand.

Consider this modified statement, which I'm suggesting MIGHT be heard some time in the not too distant future:-
"Among people who have been bombed out (for example people in Sderot), some are saying that if we had not treated the Palestinians so badly, we would not have suffered so much from terror attacks".

I'm FULLY aware that what the Nazis did to Jews was GROSSLY more evil than what Israeli Governments are doing to Palestinians. NEVERTHELESS, can we really believe that Israel's behaviour plays no causal role in the terror attacks its people have experienced? Can we?

Consider again, just for example, certain IDF behaviour as reported in my posting last week....

Or again ".... the tenacity with which Mohamed Hussain Jibor, a farmer, clings to a rock-strewn patch of land in the South Hebron hills in 38 degrees heat. His water cistern has been destroyed three times this year because he does not have a permit for it, even though the court acknowledges it is his land.....
.... The attitude of the Bedouin struggling to stay in 45 unrecognised villages in the Negev, without a supply of water, electricity or schools. Once the entire Negev was theirs, now only 6% is - Israel wants to put the Bedouin in townships while establishing 130 Jewish villages and agricultural settlements on the land..."

These are quotes from a report by David Hearst in today's Guardian - I hope you'll forgive my mention of that paper, notoriously unacceptable because of its reporting of truths people would rather not hear [Rupert Murdoch is one poor innocent victim of its reporting...].

I hope you understand my point now. Briefly, 'terror' does not ALWAYS come without cause, even though its victims are often innocent citizens of Governments acting in their name. And eventually, those citizens themselves start to realise what their Government is bringing down on their heads... and start to question it.

Look whose talking. Either you're an anti-semite or a self-hating Jew. You're the master of petulant rants.
