Many sayings of Moshe Dayan

A new State of Israel with broad frontiers, strong and solid, with the authority of the Israel Government extending from the Jordan to the Suez Canal."
"During the last 100 years our people have been in a process of building up the country and the nation, of expansion, of getting additional Jews and additional settlements in order to expand the borders here......"
So ?
These statements in no way contradict his state of mind in 1948. He was a leading negotiator in the armistice agreement process,a signatory to the agreement with Jordan, and is perfectly clear..." The armistice lines were demarcated according to the Rhodes maps and were recognised as the borders of the State of Israel."
Story of my Life, page 117.
The armistice lines became de facto borders and were accepted by the whole world ( including Israel ) as the borders of the new state.
That he subsequently, following the conquest of the west bank, Gaza and Sinai, territories he, along with everyone else, regarded as occupied, came to a vision of a greater Israel encompassing all territory between the river, the sea and the canal, is irrelevant. This merely tells us that since 1948 Israel had evolved into a nation of territorial bandits, and that the settlement of the lands and the IDF administration of the lands has had little to do with security but is much more in the nature of a colonialist enterprise. I would remind you that the quotes in your blog were selected by you, not by me.
Interestingly your first quote starts, " A NEW State of Israel..."
In other words " that was the State of Israel but now we are starting over.." Hmmmm

27 April, 2011 - 09:41 Rate this: 0 points | It may also be worth mentioning that while we are not told when he said that it cannot have been later than the very early 60's,well before post 1967 and all that. Didn't everyone feel that way at that time? Would he have felt the same way today ? |
27 April, 2011 - 11:16 Rate this: 0 points | Didn't everyone feel that way at that time? I am not quite sure the Arabs did after all they failed time and again to destroy Israel. |
27 April, 2011 - 11:48 Rate this: 0 points | Advis3r, while JFK's sentiments were true at the time he said them, it is unfortunate that today Israel has drifted far from that ideal. |
27 April, 2011 - 12:09 Rate this: 0 points | Israel has drifted far from that ideal? I think not I suggest you read this:- |
27 April, 2011 - 12:34 Rate this: 0 points | Anyone who believes that Israel isn't sliding towards apartheid and theocracy is unwittingly helping Hamas create a single non-democratic state between the River and the Sea. |
27 April, 2011 - 13:05 Rate this: 0 points | Asa Kasher a straw man argument What a strange convoluted world you do inhabit. A theocracy where gays have at least the same rights as they do in the UK and civil marriage is legal but I suppose you repeat a lie often enough people get to believing it. As to apartheid state an Arab shoots that down so much better than I see |
27 April, 2011 - 13:11 Rate this: 0 points | More crap from millis, apologist for the antisemites who infest these blogs. What a fool you are millis. |
27 April, 2011 - 13:14 Rate this: 0 points | I said sliding towards apartheid and theocracy, not that it is now. Do try and keep up. What Asa Kasher said is therefore irrelevant, much like Amber and his/her many aliases. |
27 April, 2011 - 13:15 Rate this: 0 points | Armback, from who are the territories "occupied"? |
27 April, 2011 - 13:16 Rate this: 0 points | millis, you are the alias master. And you know it. |
27 April, 2011 - 13:16 Rate this: 0 points | millis, using the word "apartheid" and Israel together is deeply insulting and part of your hate driven agenda. You knwo exactly what you are doing. What a fool. |
27 April, 2011 - 13:17 Rate this: 0 points | You are very sick, Amber and hert aliases. Seek help. |
27 April, 2011 - 13:18 Rate this: 0 points | When, Amber, is your main alias going to allow you to post above the line rather than relegating this alias to inane comments below the line? |
27 April, 2011 - 13:20 Rate this: 0 points | millis, the alias master. And the one who backs the antisemites. |
27 April, 2011 - 13:22 Rate this: 0 points | Amber, maybe you are not unwittingly helping Hamas. Maybe you are doing it wittingly. Perhaps you want to tarnish all supporters of Israel as being like you. I'd say that was very Machiavellian. |
27 April, 2011 - 13:34 Rate this: 0 points | Millis who particularly wants to keep up with the likes of you? You make ludicrous accusations against Israel because the policies of the present democratically elected government do not mirror your own ideas so you take the easy and most unintellectual way out and accuse the country of sliding into theocracy and apartheid with no empirical evidence to back up your outrageous claims. Despite this you do not consider for even one moment that you could be, and in fact are, wrong as a number of studies have shown but that seems to be par for the course. |
27 April, 2011 - 13:37 Rate this: 0 points | You want empirical? Holding on to the occupied territories and feeding the toxic settlement enterprise means that Jews in Israel are a minority ruling a disenfranchised majority. Do you not get that? Giving the anti-Zionist Orthodox and ultra-nationalist Orthodox parties more and more power means a slide towards theocracy. Do you not get that? |
27 April, 2011 - 13:47 Rate this: 0 points | millis, the man who always has something nasty to say about Israel. Shameful millis. |
27 April, 2011 - 13:55 Rate this: 0 points | Amber, write a blog if you are allowed to and let's see the love of Israel trip out from your keyboard. Come on, get your alias to let you make that leap. |
27 April, 2011 - 13:59 Rate this: 0 points | Holding on to the occupied territories and feeding the toxic settlement enterprise means that Jews in Israel are a minority ruling a disenfranchised majority - and your evidence for this is? By the way calling Jews exercising their right of self determination in their ancient homeland "toxic" marks you out as an israel hater and an enabler of Arab terrorism but hey what do you care? |
27 April, 2011 - 14:09 Rate this: 0 points | Israel, 5.5 million Jews, 1.6 million non-Jews |
27 April, 2011 - 14:15 Rate this: 0 points | There we go again, Israel as apartheid. Millis, you should be thoroughly ashamed. It is YOU increasing the hate for Israel. |
27 April, 2011 - 14:16 Rate this: 0 points | millis, there are people who couldn't give a fig about your finer points. Israel is facing a campaign of delegitimization, including on these very blogs. That you side with such people is sickening. Then you pontificate about others. |

John F. Kennedy Quotes:
Israel was not created in order to disappear - Israel will endure and flourish. It is the child of hope and the home of the brave. It can neither be broken by adversity nor demoralized by success. It carries the shield of democracy and it honors the sword of freedom.
A nation of bandits we are not - a so sad pathetic individual - you are.
