Generally, American Jews are supportive of Israel, but it's not unconditional. The main conditions are: don't pressure us, and don't embarrass us. Recently, Israel has been doing a great deal of both.

I'm sure your embarrassment will dissipate once you have voted out possibly the worst POTUS in living memory . A monumental fail on so many levels . From his ill judged unclenching of the fist to an unimpressed rabid Iranian theocracy to supporting an Arab spring which was always doomed to become a global winter . He has mismanaged the US economy with knock on effects felt in every market .
The embarrassment is all yours . Hopefully it will end next year .

And it just has to be anti black racism since it wasn't accompanied by similar criticism of any other leader of a democratic country.

Has there been widespread calls for Gantz and Barak to resign? When you add the disgusting attempt to bully the journalist, and the language used, to the attitudes expressed, it seems to me to add up to a far greater crime than that committed by Paul Flynn.

That's quite a leap of imagination even by your 'imagination lite'standards Mary .
Playing the racist card for criticising a weak president . Your comment is patronizing to black people and is racist in its own right .Why am I not surprised . I'm reminded of the sheer madness of the last 40 years of left wing politics and political correctness which has blighted our schools particularly in areas where there is a high proportion of Afro Caribbeans . The mendacity of left wing political dogma which sets out to create a two tier system by citing such things as white colonialism and oppression from 300 years ago as an explanation for underachieving black children today is shameful border line child abuse. Hopefully Gove will address this folly and remove it from our schools thereby driving up standards for all children on an equal basis .
You are doing the same thing . Shutting down criticism of an underperforming president by citing racism .
But that's the left for you and doubly so when coupled with a wannabe middle class woolfie Smith of Tooting . Hilarious !

Address the topic of the blog let's see

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-latin-america-16063229
Chile politicians condemn president's 'sexist' joke - where's the moral outrage nah it wasn't said by an Israeli.

As to those touchy Americans - From the Dry Bones blogsite
Since the creation of the State of Israel the question of aliyah from America has been a touchy topic. The old and bitter joke was "Definition of a Zionist: Someone who gives money to an organization to send another Jew to live in Israel". So Israel has tread lightly on its call for the in-gathering of America's Jews to the homeland.
So what's happening now is an angry reaction to our call to Israelis living in America to come back home!
Wow!
In an op ed piece in the NY Times entitled "Come Home to Israel", an offended Roger Cohen shares his insight with statements like
"I know several Israeli expatriates or would-be expatriates and their feelings are consistent. They are troubled by the illiberal drift of Israeli politics, the growth of a harsh nationalism, the increasing influence of the ultrareligious, the endlessness of the “situation,” and the tension inherent in a status quo that will one day threaten either Israel’s Jewishness or its democracy."

He also chides the Jewish State for failing to recognize that
"President Barack Obama is offended (by ongoing settlement expansion in the West Bank against his express request)."
Problem is that Roger can't seem to accept that Obama is America's president. He is not Israel's leader.
In the old days, American Jews were upset about Israeli Aliyah activists trying to "steal" their kids. Now they're upset about our attempts to bring our own citizens back home??!

Wow!

Oh and about men only bus segregation seems they have that in New York too – Hilary Clinton doesn’t seem to think that that is a threat to US democracy. America also has a law which requires reporting of foreign funding - it's called the Foreign Agents Act - Hilary doesn't seem to think that that either is a threat to US democracy.

And the soldiers “abusing” women by exercising a basic human right of freedom of religion and politely leaving a performance by female singers – it’s not as if they stopped the women singing like the French prevent women wearing burqas or physically attacked them like they do in Saudi Arabia or even in the UK where honour killings are now reaching epidemic proportions (but of course the BBC neglects to tell you that it is Muslims who are perpetrating these crimes and some police forces refuse to publish figures for fear of a backlash!) – what Suzanna et al seem to think is that people are entitled to human rights as long as they are not religious Jews. Nice.

What a mindless post

Repeating hearsay from a closed meeting by Hilary Clinton

There is no validation she said this

Knowing the lies put out by the PSC/ISM pro-Palestinian camp, it is in all likelihood totally fabricated

Let's have a recap. The Defence Minister and the Army Chief of Staff gratuitously insult half the world's population. Then Gantz behaves like a Sicilian Capo di Capi. Validating Hillary Clinton's points, he abuses his powerful position, in breach of all democratic principles, to prevent their attitudes being reported.

By comparison, a nondescript MP says something undoubtedly stupid and possibly anti-Semitic, and you scream blue murder.

Hoffman, Jose, and Harvey, you are going to demand their resignation or sacking, aren't you? I do my best to defend you against charges of hypocracy. Please don't cut my legs from under me.

Interestingly, this affair has received very little attention in the main stream Israeli media. It's almost as though, under the influence of the ultra religious right, this kind of mysogyny has become an accepted norm.
