Brian Paddick at London Jewish Forum

I thought that Brian Paddick did well at this morning's breakfast meeting organised by the London Jewish Forum, which is organising similar meetings with other major London mayoral candidates. I'm not just saying that he did well because I am a Lib Dem; I honestly thought that it was more interesting than such political meetings (regardless of party) often are. Over at http://matthewfharris.blogspot.co.uk/2012/04/video-brian-paddick-at-lond..., I have posted some videos that I took of Brian speaking - the videos are quite short and worth a look.

At the beginning I naively thought one was able to post items supportive of Israel without problem - it became all too obvious that the JC was willing to allow people to post the most outrageous lies about Israel and those who post in support of it. After consulting with others I decided that slightly intemperate language was necessary to counter this assualt on the truth especially after I was called a nasty Jew by someone who professes to be a grandmother - a fine example to her grandchildren she is. My posting here was just to counter the unanswered slurs on Israel - now that they have been shut down the hate Israel circus are left with posting inane comments in the comments section. |

Tue, 04/24/2012 - 09:36 Rate this: -1 points | Personally I like things as they are now. bervosveshalom is a maniacal latter day Dr Strangelove that wants to nuke Iran and this practice of posting blogs that say nothing but merely link to the posters own blog spot is self promotion on an embarrassing scale and exceedingly tedious. Isn't it Matthew ? Further we don't have Jose frantically filling the page with blogs at an average rate of ten an hour which mostly link to some piece of drivel on some fruit loop blog spot or other. Do we Advsr ? What we do have is Hoffie making an idiot of himself without being drowned out by lots of background noise. We can all focus properly and give him the attention he deserves. Well done Mr Pollard. |
Tue, 04/24/2012 - 10:28 Rate this: 1 point | Since as you perfectly well know I am not Jose I have absolutely no idea to what the frantically filling etc you refer to - I am however content with the present set up because thankfully we don’t have to contend with Israel haters like you Rich Armbach (aka RRZ) posting your intellectually and mentally challenged bigoted drivel on what supposedly is a Jewish Website. |

not even after i linked to it (above)? then how do you know it isn't at least as worthy of publication as your blog?
matthew, do you even know what that policy is? (we certainly don't) (other than "we now have a number of invited bloggers whose posts we will host on our site.") do you have any idea what the criteria are for deciding who to "invite"? (btw, were you actually invited, or have you simply not been banned?) or is your lack of problem based on the same disregard for knowledge as your lack of interest in an israeli blog?
so no wish at all to stand up for a more liberal policy towards freedom of expression?

Tue, 04/24/2012 - 10:56 Rate this: 0 points | " Just happy to be here " About sums it up. And Jose, web sites don't have ethnicity, or a religion or anything closely similar. That is commonly know as a category mistake. You may as well talk about climbing the floor. |
Tue, 04/24/2012 - 15:14 Rate this: 1 point | I have some sympathy with the change that was made. Some people, not least Advis3r, abused the privilege of being able to post blogs and reduced the site to something resembling a zoo. Mr. Pollard had to do something. My concern is not the policy in general terms, but rather, the way the policy has been implemented. The Jewish Chronicle website has been reduced to the mouthpiece and personal forum of one person who uses it mainly to facilitate his personal petty vendettas and smear campaigns. |
Tue, 04/24/2012 - 15:36 Rate this: -1 points | I deliberately did not look at the links to that Israeli blog because I don't want to get drawn into a debate about its merits! I do think this blog site is improved since the change-over. Freedom of speech includes freedom for a newspaper to choose which blogs it hosts on its website. |
Tue, 04/24/2012 - 16:17 Rate this: 1 point | Blink Don't bother me with information I might get dragged kicking and screaming into a debate. This man wants to get elected ? Matthew I agree that it has been improved and give my reasons above. In what way do you think it has been improved ? Relax I am not trying to draw you into a debate. |

since you never looked at berovozveshalom's blog, how do you know that the site is better? as a liberal, if he (or i) was unjustly banned, does that not bother you?
well, there's an orwellian (1984) concept i haven't seen for ages … … if you're ever elected, perhaps you'll be appointed to minitrue (the ministry of truth)?

matthew, as a liberal democrat, what is your view on freedom of expression at thejc.com?
former regular jc blogger berovozveshalom is a recognised blogger in israel, he is both interesting and informative, his blogs and comments here were faultless, and his presence on thejc.com enhanced the website, but he is no longer welcome here
he has described the present unsatisfactory situation in his "wordpress" blog, http://muchcourageandpeace.wordpress.com/2012/03/27/this-is-how-they-shu...
(i too have become a refugee)
in solidarity with berovozveshalom and others, will you ask thejc.com to explain their policy, and refuse to blog here until a more liberal policy is adopted, and berovozveshalom (and i) are re-instated?
