In the event 32 Palestinian Jews were parachuted into the Balkans during 1944. Eight were killed. Others eventually escaped after enduring unimaginable Nazi torture.

Among them was Hannah Senesch, who had come to Palestine from Hungary aged 18, and now aged 23, volunteered to return to Hungary to help organise a Jewish underground railroad. Hannah was executed by the Nazis on November 6 1944.

We can only hope that Mr Churchill got his intelligence and it kept him warm for a few nights.

Mary, I understand that growing up Catholic in Belfast has had the effect of making you hate the British. I get that. How is socialism the answer to this? It didn't make the world love the Jews. What makes you think it will do any more for the Irish?

Mary, I suggest you read Martin Gilbert's work, "Churchill and the Jews", which rather undermines your sad attempt at denigrating a man who saved this country from Nazi tyranny.
