Rachel Corrie's death still being exploited by Israel haters

On Tuesday the verdict will be announced in the civil law suit in Israel brought by the parents of ISM (International Solidarity Movement) volunteer Rachel Corrie against the Israeli government. Already the Rachel Corrie Foundation (run by her parents and others) has scheduled a publicity event and is using the occasion to fuel its anti-Israel campaigning. Cifwatch has lifted the lid off the ISM - the organisation for which Corrie was working - whose purpose is to transform the Arab-Israeli conflict into a battle against Israel by the rest of the world. Here's what Thom Saffold - a founder and organiser of the ISM - said after Corrie's death:

It’s possible they [the protesters] were not as disciplined as we would have liked,” Thom Saffold, a founder and organizer of the International Solidarity Movement, said in a telephone interview from the group’s base in Ann Arbor, Mich. “But we’re like a peace army. Generals send young men and women off to operations, and some die.”

The facts: On 16 March 2003 the IDF was engaged in a routine mission to level terrain and clear debris near the border, a preventative measure aimed at removing cover for terrorist attacks. The IDF used two D-9 armoured bulldozers and one command APC. Each bulldozer was manned by two IDF personnel: a commander and an operator, each of whom was an experienced bulldozer operator in his 30s.

On March 16, several ISM protestors entered a closed military zone and interfered in this routine mission. The IDF attempted to remove the protestors with shock grenades, tear gas and warning shots. After these multiple warnings and attempts to remove the protestors, the protestors still refused to leave the site.

ISM protestors claimed that the driver of the IDF bulldozer saw Rachel Corrie standing in his path and ran over her deliberately. In fact:
•The bulldozer driver did not see Rachel Corrie – and was not aware of her proximity to the bulldozer.
•Rachel Corrie was standing behind an earth mound and was obscured from the bulldozer crew’s view.
•There was no direct contact between the bulldozer and Rachel Corrie
•Rachel Corrie’s death was a result of injuries she sustained when earth and debris accidentally fell on her.
•The irresponsible and dangerous conduct of ISM activists — blatantly ignoring IDF warnings, refusing to leave the area, and purposely putting themselves in harm’s way — was a major factor leading to the tragic result of this incident.

•The D-9 armored bulldozer used by the IDF to clear terrain has an extremely limited field of vision. Because of the height of the D-9 bulldozer — more than 4 meters/12 feet — the D-9 bulldozer operator has a limited line of sight and cannot see anything on the ground that is closer than 30 meters/90 feet.

Rachel Corrie's death was a tragic accident - unlike the deaths of these Israeli Rachels, all murdered in cold blood:

"Put ISM On Trial for Rachel Corrie's Death"

Amazing how MSM is still being duped by the ISM false photo chronology and photoshopped pictures:

Now read what the Corries' lawyer - the one they selected and hired - said on PA TV in July: that Nazi Germany's founding was legal but Israel's founding was theft

Lawyer Abu Hussein: "Nazi Germany was a state based on the rule of law for a short while... the State of Israel was founded from the start on robbery and theft"

Harvey that reads like a copy and paste of the findings of the less than " thorough, credible and transparent " IDF investigation.

Not to mention the vast bulk of it is contradicted by

a) the leaked bits of the autopsy report

b) the evidence of eye witnesses that the Israelis busted a gut trying to prevent giving evidence

c) the pictorial evidence ( though I know Harv and Hoff are not big fans of pictorial evidence )

But all in all we have a wonderful example of how it is impossible to have any kind of discussion with the likes of Hoff,Harv and the couple of other members of their little cult.

You just get hit with a plethora of dubious certainties, called a hater and worse and deluged with links to nut job extremist blog spots and other laughable sources.

Most tedious of all, in Harv's case especially, it inevitably is hijacked so as to secure some kind of victory in their London parochial sand pit inter cult squabble. So this all becomes about ISM and the myriad of other relevant issues are not up for discussion.

All very tedious.

Yes, Hoffman and Harvey's victories tend to be a bit pyrrhic.

"When the Israel-haters fail, they resport to ad hominem insults. You have failed bigtime with Ahava. The shop remains open and is very profitable. It makes more money on demo days than any other time. Despite all your photographing and ad hominem insults, you are losing and we are winning. That is all that counts."

How the MSM is still being duped by the ISM false photo chronology ...

Cowardly anonymous owners of defamatory websites have no right to intelligent discourse here.

Hoffie intelligent discourse is not a right. It is however an impossibility in the face of your unremitting stream of self promoting drivel.

Are you telling us that the after photo was photoshopped ? Oh dear.

You're right . It was a bit copy and paste
Better is the Times op ed from last week
'Israel has an obligation to protect civilian lives in a combat zone
but also to defend its own citizens . The International Solidarity Movement which organised the protest in which Corrie died , does not declare solidarity with Israeli civilians at risk from suicide terrorism . Its main activity is to cynically endanger its own volunteers .
Tragically , Corrie was a victim of that insouciance .

From the Times

That's the opinion of The Times oped.

Everyone has got one.

And of course integral to opinions are all kinds of other opinions and assumptions.

Like this op ed assumes that the IDF were engaged in " protecting the lives of Israeli citizens " .

Another opinion is that they were engaged in destroying the home of a harmless pharmacist against whom, so far as I am aware, no accusation of being engaged in terrorism has ever been made. This as part of the systematic destruction of hundreds of Palestinian homes in and around Rafah as part of a policy of collective punishment.

That of course is another opinion wrapped around other opinions and assumptions.
