Eighteen years living with Ken Livingstone has clearly had an impact on Kate Allen’s definition of “truth”.

Her denial (JC 26 April ) that Amnesty displays anti-Israel bias surely must rank alongside Bill Clinton’s denial in re Monica Lewinsky for the title of "Most Disingenuous and Egregious Falsehood in History." There is hardly an Israel traducer to whom Amnesty has not given a London platform: Jeff Halper, Ben White, the Christisons, Greg Philo, Tim Lllewellyn and Gideon Levy are just a few examples. Yet when I negotiated long and hard with Amnesty’s Campaigns Director Kristyan Benedict for Ruvi Ziegler to speak there I got precisely nowhere (Ziegler is an Israeli Doctoral Law student at Oxford who is an expert on the law of the Security Fence and a superb speaker).

Add to this (i) that Amnesty played host to the Russell Tribunal which is a Kangaroo Court designed solely to vilify Israel (ii) Amnesty never called for the release of Gilad Shalit and (iii) Amnesty published a report about water resources in Gaza which was mostly fiction, then you can appreciate why - after reading the piece about Allen - I had to check whether the date on the JC was close to Purim.

In this week’s JC Alan Aziz also weighs in …

I agree but does being a bottle blonde anarchist from Brighton mean you get a pass when it comes to telling the truth? If so I think there are a number of people who would love to become bottle blonde anarchists (try saying that quickly when you have had few) and live in Brighton.

I agree that its wrong to abduct anyone from sovereign Israeli territory.
Do you agree its wrong for Israel to abduct people in places over the world(outside Israeli jurisdiction) or is it ok for Israel to do it

Nice one Alistair - Israel abducts known terrorists -- so therefore you equate the abduction of a soldier of a sovereign nation lawful carrying out his duties protecting the citizens of his country with the abduction of a terrorist responsible for the unlawful deaths of innocent civilians or who is suspected of being about to commit such an attrocity and you consider yourself moral?
Presumably you consider the United States execution of Osama bin Laden suspect too.

I didn't equate anything with anything.I wondered whether you think its ok for Israel abduct people from abroad.Personally I think proper legal channels are the right way to bring justice ,after all a man isn't guilty until proven guilty in a court of law.Do you think its ok for Israel to break the law?Or do you think it's not ok for Israel to break the law ,violate some one else's sovereign territory ?.Israel has a very broad definition of terrorism you know.
