Other guilty parties:

Shaftesbury plc (the landlord) for capitulating to intimidation;

Ahava for being so pusillanimous in fighting the haters and for blaming the counter-demonstraters for the disruption to Monmouth Street;

Those many Jews in London who could have come to support our counter-demonstration but stayed silent

So when you said"judge me on my record."

Can we judge you on this?

Good to see you moderated the title. Again. It's no use blaming everyone else for the closure. That sounds like victimology. Had your lot not demonstrated against the boycotters, thus giving them publicity, they would have walked. No one would have been interested in them.
And anyway, it also may have to do with the fact that the shop, with its vastly overpriced goods, lost £250,000 last year, despite a £300,000 cash injection from Ahava.
People can't afford to chuck £12 on face cream in these straightened times.

Blame everyone else. You are getting to sound more and more like the Palestinian rejectionists. I came to one of your "counter-demonstrations" but I was so embarrassed by the behaviour, I went to the pub.

In fact, it's almost as bad as the Syrian Ambassador to London Sami Khiyami blaming Israel for the uprising in his country.

Would now be the right time to comment on the EDL and their love of face cream?

Come on Jonathan, you said yesterday quite clearly: "Judge me on my record." referring to Ahava and Bathurst Norman. Your record speaks for itself I think.

Oh, and 'go forth and multiply?'
I'm trying dear boy; its rather fun I must admit.

I'm sorry your valiant efforts were in vain, Jonathan.
This is a victory for fascism and will only encourage the totalitarian left and its running dogs - can't you just hear them howling with excitement!

Victory for fascism? The EDL ran too, Yvetta. It's a defeat for common sense and a victory for ill-judged stupidity. Hubris, that's what it should be called.

The people have spoken with their feet. They didn't come. Listen up. There's nothing facist about avoiding violence, verbal or otherwise. I guess you have to have a conscience (like the woman in the vid said) to understand how offensive the Ahava situation is.

I wonder how many of those baying protesters have a "conscience" over genuine atrocities against human rights in real rogue regimes - not many, I bet, because such regimes aren't run by Da Joos.

Yvetta, all in all, there were about 5 loud-mouths from each side at these demos. If they had been ignored, the boycotters would have given up for lack of publicity.

C'est la guerre Jonathan

Jonathan do you really think you have "a record" vis a vis Judge Bathurst Norman ? After manfully enduring the mildest possible judicial rebuke he went back , with a grin, to his serene retirement on the beautiful Sussex coast.

I guess no more woolly hats on Monmouth Street. Unless you are so addicted to woolly hats you wear them all through the summer.

Iris that video is now only for the archives. Of interest only to historians.

It is interesting though that Ahava are retreating to north west London. Whats wrong with Brixton ?

You do have a good point about the prices in these straitened times ...
Of course, since the demos were held on Saturdays the more frum pro-Israelis wouldn't attend.

By the way, there's a shop in Ladywell, Lewisham, called Ein Gedi. I've no idea what they sell, but I've seen no demos there.

Mr Hoffman I am a very lazy typer. Do try to get a grip of your seemingly irrepressible rudeness.I don't know what they taught you at your Swiss finishing school, but it obviously wasn't manners.

It's entirely appropriate that this blog should have degenerated into mudslinging.

Carry on.

simoneq, calls this "victory". The shop didn't cloase, but will have to move. This is because the other shops around have decided to side with the bullies like you simoneq. This is like expelling the bullied child because he causes a nuisance.

Disgusting and shameful. I can't say I wish the other shops well.

JC, that you tolerate the endless ad hom attacks on Mr Hoffman is disgusting. That you give voice to people like Lukas and simoneq, who have voiced support for the antisemitic terror group Hamas, on these very blogs, is also disgusting.

How long is this absurd situation going to go on for?

That David Abrahams you are pictured with in the JC this week - isn't he the one that advocates talks with Hamas and has reportedly met with Hamas representatives? I hope you pointed out the error of his ways!

That could be because they don't agree with the occupation and illegal settlements.

Actually, Amber, the JPR survey, which was flawed in so many ways, revealed that, if anything, a majority of British Jews who cared about Israel thought the settlements were an obstacle to peace and that Israel was as to blame for the failure of peace talks as the Palestinians.
